Ramblin’ Ray Stevens returns to US-99 as Afternoon Host

WUSN-FM (99.5) is pleased to announce that effective Monday, March 12th, Ramblin’ Ray Stevens returns to US-99 as the host of the newly created 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Afternoon Show. Ramblin’ Ray has been with the station since 1990, most recently with the US-99 Morning Show Team.

WUSN General Manager Steve Ennen said, “The listeners responded when Ray left the station, and many of the advertisers who are close to the station felt Ray was an important contributor to our success. We knew that Chicago Radio missed Ramblin’ Ray and we’re very excited about his return to US-99”.

WUSN Program Director Justin Case added, “We really wanted to create the right combination for our listeners, and we believe bringing Ray back to Afternoons at US-99 creates the most powerful line-up of personalities in Chicago Radio”.

A native of Chicago, Ray Stevens has deep roots here. “I really can’t see myself anywhere but US-99. I am thrilled to be back with my family.”

One listen to Ramblin' Ray and you know he's from Chicago! He's quick to defend the city's sports teams and bleeds Chicago Bears blue (even if they do lose a lot).

He began his career in radio in 1985 at WAUR-FM in Aurora (where he made more coffee for the boss than money). His suburban radio experience ranged from oldies, to Motown, to the all-talk afternoon show on WMRO-AM, where he was the "farm reporter," a.k.a. "the Agravisor." Then it was on to mornings at the now defunct Y-108 FM. After 5 years, Ray landed at US*99 and has called it his home until 01/30/01. Ray loved his job because of all the great listeners. When he's not at station events, he can be found at various charity events throughout the city and suburbs. Working with DARE programs and talking to kids is one way he hopes to leave his mark.

Ray joined US-99 as a weekend jock from the former west suburban WAUR-FM in 1990 and succeeded the late John Katzbeck as morning co-host in 1994.

In his "spare time," Ray can be found hanging out with his wife, Gina, and their two kids, Cheyenne Rose and Conner, snowmobiling, boating, waterskiing, or working on his family cabin in northern Wisconsin.
