Mark Giangreco

Mark Giangreco anchors sports weekdays on ABC-7 News at 5 and 10 p.m. 

Giangreco joined ABC-7 in December of 1994. Previously, Giangreco was sports anchor/reporter for NBC-5 in Chicago since December, 1982, and has won numerous awards and honors during that time. 
Before coming to Chicago, Giangreco was a sports anchor and sports director at WLKY-TV in Louisville, Kentucky. He won the 1982 Louisville Journalism Award for his report on the Triple A Louisville Redbirds, who broke the all-time Minor League baseball attendance record. 

From 1978-79, Giangreco was weekend sports anchor/reporter at WDTN-TV in Dayton, Ohio. He began his broadcasting career in 1974 at WING-AM/WJAI-FM radio, in Dayton, after receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in Communications from the University of Dayton. 

Giangreco has won several awards and has earned numerous recognitions. He has been awarded the prestigious Iris Award from the National Association of Television Program Executives, three Emmys, two Peter Lisagor Awards and two Associated Press Awards for "Best Sportscast." 

In May of 1995, Giangreco was honored with the Dante Award from the Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans and the Justinian Society of Italian Lawyers Award for journalism. In addition, he was named "Father of the Year" in June of 1996. 

Giangreco is married and resides in the northern suburbs of Chicago with his wife and three children.
