Ben Hollis
Ben Hollis with Will Clinger

WYCC-TV 20

Apart from joining the WYCC team, Ben Hollis is best known as the host of two Emmy Award-winning TV series, Wild Chicago on WTTW and Ben Loves Chicago on WPWR-UPN. Ben also produced and created or co-created the hit programs and has been a regular contributor to 190 North on WLS-Channel 7. Viewers at home aren't the only ones to enjoy Ben's work; corporate clients are also reaping the benefits of Ben's infectious spirit and uncanny ability to impart essential information through video that's compelling to watch. Ben's clients have included Microsoft, State Farm Insurance, Ameritech, Motorola, Underwriters Laboratories, General Electric and others. Ben also teaches and directs improvisational theatre at Players Workshop of The Second City, the country's oldest school in improvisation. Ben is a graduate of the George Washington University and The Latin School of Chicago. Before lighting on his TV career he paid his dues doing stand-up comedy, improvisation, fronting a satirical rock and roll band called "The Dogmatics," writing ad copy, driving a Checker Cab, slinging whiskey and pushing a lonely hearts club in L.A. In his first ever modeling job in the late '70's for Budget Rent-a-Car, Ben was forced to cram his 36-inch-waist into a pair of way-too-tight 32-inch waist blue jeans, prop his left foot up on the bumper of a Lincoln Continental and smile warmly. Only his closest friends could see his pain. Ben lives in West Lakeview with his wife and two step-daughters and risks his life every summer playing hardball in the Men's Senior Baseball League.
