Alexis Del Cid

KOB-TV - NEWS REPORTER

Alexis Del Cid, formerly Alexis Johnson, is a general assignment reporter, and anchor Saturday mornings on Eyewitness News 4 Today.

Alexis graduated from the University of Iowa with a BA in English and a Journalism minor. She spent one-year abroad at Swansea University in Wales. Alexis' first broadcasting job was as a news intern at WLS-TV in Chicago. After that, she worked the assignment desk at CLTV in Oakbrook, Illinois and then as a reporter/producer at WMAQ Radio News in Chicago.

From there, Alexis made the move to television—and it was a far move! She became a reporter at KPLC-TV in Lake Charles, Louisiana where she says she ate lots of crawfish.

Alexis later moved to WCIA-TV in Champaign, Illinois, where she says she ate lots of corn. She made the move to KOB-TV in 2002.

“This is the first time I’ve ever been in the Southwest... and I love it. It’s beautiful and the people I’ve met have been wonderful,” she says.

Alexis says her favorite sport is waterskiing. In fact, she was on a waterski team in Wisconsin for 13 years, where she put on waterski shows four times a week during the summers.

Alexis says she’s most proud of an award she won at the Chicago Air Awards for Best Documentary. It was a series about fake ID’s and underage drinking.

Growing up, Alexis Johnson got into trouble for talking in class and asking too many questions. Her gift of gab led her to her current career. According to Alexis, "As a reporter, I have found a way to channel talking and curiosity into a career!"

"I want to be known as a person who reports the story correctly and explains it clearly," says Alexis. She's a fan of Mexican food and mint chocolate chip ice cream - served separately of course!

Alexis married Salvador Del Cid, a realtor for Coldwell Banker Legacy, in October 2003.
